ABC Says No More To Charlie’s Angels

Charlie's Angels has just been cut by ABC.

October 16, 2011- Another new fall show has been cancelled. Charlie’s Angels was the latest new show to be axed following a number of blistering critic reviews, a lukewarm response to the premiere and a dwindling number of viewers. The news was not received with surprise by most as the writing was clearly on the wall.

The show joins The Playboy Club as two of the early losers in the new fall lineup of shows. One critic said the show had some of Hollywood’s worst acting he has seen on television with much of that coming from Minka Kelly.

Remakes are not easily done for television and often times they are not successful. Charlie’s Angels was one of the most popular shows of the 1970s starring the late Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson.

Many believe the show was not successful because it took more from the Angels’ movies than it did the original series. Drew Barrymore co-produced the movies and played a part in the TV remake’s production.

In this day and age, where it is so difficult finding advertising dollars, viewership is important in maintaining a show on the small screen. As many critics said, “Good acting goes a long way in making a mediocre show good.”
