Apple's new iPhone 4S sold out of pre-orders on friday in record time.
October 9, 2011- In just the first day that pre-orders were made available for the new Apple iPhone 4S, they sold out. Early Friday morning the new phone went on sale and AT&T announced it was the most successful launch they have had for the iPhone. Over 200,000 were ordered in just the first 12 hours.
Current orders are receiving shipping information that has an arrival date of between one and two weeks. The new iPhone will also be available starting this Friday at Apple Stores and other retail outlets, but long lines are expected anywhere the new phone will be on sale.
Those that were lucky enough to have pre-ordered the phone last Friday will have it delivered to them on or before this coming Friday October 14. There were a few of the typical setbacks with the ordering process, which has become common with the launching of new Apple iPhones. Some customers had problems connecting to the Apple store website.
A new triage system was used by Apple. The system offered a message of confirmation that the customer had in fact been successful in reserving an iPhone. Nevertheless, the confirmation said they would have to return to the complete their ordering when they were able to access their account.
In contrast, Verizon customers experienced a much easier ordering process on its website Friday morning.
