Charges Brought Against Two Who Tried To Extort Stevie Wonder

Music legend Stevie Wonder was being extorted by two people, including a nephew.

May 12, 2012- Law enforcement officials charged two people with extortion after detective arrested the two for attempting to sell what they claimed was embarrassing information regarding Stevie Wonder. Alpha Lorenzo Walker and Tamara Diaz were jailed on May2. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges and will appear on May 16 in court for a hearing before the judge, who will determine if enough evidence exists for them to be tried.

According to the complaint, Diaz and Walker tried to get money from the multiple Grammy winning Wonder. Walker is currently on probation after pleading no contest on a charge of grand theft back in May of 2011.Walker was given a sentence of three-years that was suspended and on May 31 must appear in court for a probation violation hearing.

A spokeswoman for the district attorney said that Walker contacted the representatives for Wonder claiming he had information about Wonder that was embarrassing. A sting was organized by detectives and the two were arrested. On Friday, no further information about the case was released.

Walker says he is the nephew of Wonder and because of a pending case, he is being held without bail. Diaz is being held on $95,000 bail and both have public defenders representing them.
