Former Death Row Records executive Marion “Suge” Knight was arrested in Las Vegas.
February 10, 2012- Marion “Suge” Knight co-founder of Death Row Records was locked up for a brief period on Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was taken into custody for suspicion of possession of marijuana and outstanding traffic warrants after police pulled him over for a separate driving infraction.
The former mogul of rap music was stopped close to the famed Las Vegas strip around 5:30 Wednesday afternoon. Police noticed he made a turn and changed lanes without using the proper signals.
The officer who stopped him made a records check that showed Knight had three traffic warrants outstanding from the state of Nevada. One was for driving in Nevada using an out of state license that had been suspended, said police officials.
Knight, 46, also had in his possession less than one ounce of marijuana, which is a misdemeanor defense. According to police, Knight was taken into custody and then freed on bail.
Knight is known for helping to launch the careers of rap greats such as Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg during the 1990s. However, of late his personal career has been marred with a number of run-ins with authorities.
He was apprehended in Los Angeles in May of 2010 for an alleged assault. Back in 2008, he was arrested in Las Vegas on assault and drug charges after being accused of hitting his girlfriend and threatening her with a knife.
