
Vancouver is host to the sixth annual World Culinary Travel Expo.
May 13, 2012- Between June 1-3, the sixth annual World Culinary Travel Expo will be held in Vancouver, Canada during the EAT! Vancouver Festival. The Expo has become more and more popular each year and more than 35,000 people are expected for this year’s event.
Culinary travel is quickly becoming a fast-growing niche market for travel and the Expo attracts travel providers such as tour operators, tourist boards, wholesalers, retailers, restaurants, hotels and even wineries.
Interest in international cuisine has boomed over the last five to ten years. Much of that is due to the popularity of the reality cooking series’ that are all over network and cable television. In addition, many great cooking channels have succeeded in bringing the most remote cuisine into the living rooms of people around the world.
Cuisine is important in nearly every visitor’s experience during his or her vacation. Great cuisines can make an excellent vacation extraordinary and bad cuisine can make a good vacation, bad. Many tour operators are offering travel packages to places all over the world that highlight the different flavors the traveler can experience in different regions around the world.
The Expo is just one place that highlights all the different culinary delights that are available in destinations all over the world. One new survey of travel operators said that over 50% of the tour providers say Culinary tours top their list of new tours.
