Derek Jeter is single again after breaking up with his long time girlfriend.
August 27, 2011- Derek Jeter, the shortstop from the New York Yankees and Minka Kelly, his longtime girlfriend, have decided to split. This puts him back on the top of the list of eligible bachelors once again.
The two have dated for over three years Kelly’s representative reported. The source says the two care very deeply about one another and the decision was an amicable one.
Kelly stars in the remake of the famous television series Charlie’s Angels that was very popular in the 1980s. She was seen often at Yankee Stadium watching the team and cheering on Jeter. She was present for the game in Yankee Stadium when Jeter got his 3,000 career hit this past July.
The couple has been very private about their relationship for the entire three years often times dodging persistent rumors of an engagement. They were very reluctant to every talk about what they felt was very personal.
They did comment earlier in the month about how Kelly lacked any sort of baseball knowledge. Jeter, the perennial all-star and a shoe-in for a Hall of Fame spot when he retires, has come off an early season injury to return to form. His team is in the midst of a fierce battle with the Boston Red Sox, for first place in the Eastern Division of the American League.
