George Clooney is using his fame as a movie star to help Sudan.
January 21,2011- George Clooney is being interviewed this Friday on “Piers Morgan Tonight”, where he tells Morgan that he thinks he has the best job in the world.
When Morgan questioned Clooney if he was thinking about taking after other Hollywood Stars who had dabbled in politics, the actor put to rest any ideas about that subject: “Honestly, my job is as good as they get.”
“I think that I am best suited as an advocate for issues,” stated Clooney. “And I look to people who are far smarter and far better at this than I am to lead.”
Clooney’s main focus presently is the plight in Sudan. In early January, Clooney has increased his efforts to spotlight the chaos near the distressed area of Abyei. The A-List movie star was an eye-witness to the voting procedures that will hopefully lead to an independent state for Southern Sudan.
He also admitted to Morgan that he became infected with malaria while he was stationed in Sudan, but went to say that he no longer has the disease. For Clooney, this has been his second go around with the virus and he cracked: “I guess the mosquito in Juba looked at me and thought I was the bar.”
When Morgan queried Clooney if he gets mad when people tell him that Sudan is waste of his time and that his humantarian efforts are for “self-aggrandizing reasons,” Clooney explained to Morgan, “I don’t need to be more famous.”
“I’ve got all the attention I need,” Clooney said, “and I’m just trying to use that attention on other people.”
