Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson was a traget of an extortion plot.
June 29, 2012- Mark Jackson, the head coach of the Golden State Warriors has confirmed that he along with his family were targets of an extortion plot. A 28-year old stripper allegedly possessed a set of racy photographs of the Warriors’ coach who is married. She requested money to make sure the photos were not released. Earlier in the week, two suspects had been apprehended, said the team.
The pictures came from an affair that Jackson had over six years ago with the stripper. The stripper Alexis Adams and Marcus Shaw were both named in criminal complaints due their alleged roles in the extortion scheme. The documents do not indentify who the victim was, but insiders close to the situation reported it was Jackson.
Adams posted $25,000 bail but her co-conspirator Shaw is still jailed because of a prior conviction from 1996 for aggravated battery. The team statement said that Jackson’s extramarital affair took place when he was a broadcaster for ESPN and ABC.
Jackson said he was approached by an individual in early April in Memphis at the team’s hotel when the Warriors were playing the Grizzlies. The man demanded a large sum of cash or said he would sell some personal information to one of the tabloids.
Jackson paid the individual calling it a lapse in his judgement and something he would not recommend to anyone. The man emailed him about two weeks later and spoke to his wife requesting additional money. Jackson said he had informed the team of what was happening. The team immediately contacted the local police and the FBI.
