Mexico City is attempting to attract more tourists with a new app for the iPhone.
July 29, 2011- It will now be easier to travel around one of the world’s largest cities and metropolitan areas. Mexico City officials have released a free app that can be downloaded at iTunes called StyleMap Mexico City.
The app is intended to give the visitor an idea of the layout of the city and how to best maneuver around the huge metropolis.
Both newcomers and frequent visitors can take advantage of how the app helps you traverse the world’s third largest city. There are insider guides to hotels, restaurants, shops, art galleries, museums and even some of the more popular neighborhoods.
The city is trying to bounce back from such negative publicity from the war on drugs that President Calderon has been fighting since he took office. The app can be used on an iPad, iPod Touch and an iPhone and requires a minimum of iOS 3.1.3.
The Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard said the app was the most comprehensive guide there is available for Mexico City. He added: “it allows visitors to use guides to the city, locate restaurants, shops, museums and much more.”
Mexico City is the number one tourist site in the entire country entertaining over 12 million visitors annually. The city boasts a contemporary and vibrant culture that mixes colonial, pre-Hispanic and modern influences that span centuries.
