
Think Like A Man is the new king of the box-office.
April 23, 2012- The run of The Hunger Games has come to an end. A new movie has taken over the top spot at the box office this weekend. Think Like a Man muscled its way to first place with a take of $33 million. That knocked The Hunger Games out of first place after four consecutive weeks at the top spot.
Think Like a Man is based on the best-seller by Steve Harvey that gives dating advice. It debuted this week and doubled what was expected by studio executives. The movie stars an ensemble cast that includes Taraji Henson, Gabrielle Union and Michael Ealy. Think Like a Man cost $13 million to produce and nearly earned that much in its first night of release Friday.
Second place for the weekend went to The Lucky One a drama by Warner Bros. Starring Zac Efron. The movie is an adaptation to the romance novel by Nicholas Sparks. The movie debuted this weekend taking in $22.8 million.
Third place went to The Hunger Games, which earned over $14.5 million, taking its domestic take to over $357 million. Internationally the movie also took in another $13 million over the weekend. Internationally the movie has earned $215.9 million.
Rounding out the Top 5, were at fourth, Chimpanzee a nature documentary by Disney that earned $10.2 million in its debut, and The Three Stooges, which in its second weekend earned $9.2 million to finish in fifth place.
