Palin Sued By Bar Heckler For Defamation

Reality TV actress Bristol Palin is being sued for defaming a bar patron.

June 14, 2012- Bristol Palin was heckled by a man in a Los Angeles bar who insulted her mother Sarah Palin, the conservative politician. The same man has now sued Palin, the single mom, for defamation. Stephen Hanks, a talent manager, has also sued Lifetime, the cable channel, which included video of the incident from 2011 in the upcoming TV reality show starring Bristol Palin. Hanks claims he did not give the program’s producers permission to film him.

The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles in federal court and stems from an incident in September 2011 that was highly publicized. The damages asked for in the lawsuit were not specified by Hanks’ lawyer, but it was filed in federal court since the plaintiff was asking for over $75,000.

Palin and Lifetime representatives did not respond to requests for comments. Palin became famous because of her teen pregnancy at the time her mother was running as the vice presidential candidate on the John McCain ticket in 2008.

In 2011, Palin had just completed a ride on a mechanical horse when Hanks, who was a bar patron, shouted out that Palin’s mom was evil and a whore. The exchange between them was widely posted on the Web and shows the young Palin confronting Hanks. She asked if he was gay and then the two got into a heavy exchange of words.
