The Royal Wedding will be under extremely tight security.
April 27, 2011- It was announced yesterday that there will be armed security officers in the congregation for the Royal Wedding this Friday the 29th. The security forces from the elite firearms squad of Scotland Yard will be amongst the guests at Westminster Abbey.
Additionally, royals and VIP’s from other countries will be escorted by unarmed foreign officers and they will remain in close proximity to the church. There will be a total of over 5,000 police officers from London that will be on duty and in some way helping with the security and the procession.
An expected 1,000 will be roving around the West End in order to stop a repeat of trouble that occurred in the TUC march last month. Sources say that members of the elite SAS are on standby to take care of any terrorist threats that potentially could occur. Also planned are three helicopters standing by to deploy the elite troops if needed while snipers will be located along the wedding route at key locations.
At key crossing areas there will be over 350 volunteer police cadets that will help with the crowds. And there will be undercover spotters that will be in the crowds near the Abbey to just look for people that are intent on causing some sort of trouble. Among the spotters will be those watching out for possible riot starters in the crowd.
The police commissioner has announced that there will be no expense spared in ensuring that the royal wedding goes as planned and is as spectacular as everyone expects it to be. No one knows the exact number of officers nor arms that will be used in the wedding, but suffice to say this royal wedding will be the most protected ever.
