Charlie Sheen’s new show Anger Management is a huge success.
June 30, 2012- Charlie Sheen is officially back. His series premiere of Anger Management on the FX channel drew over 5.5 million viewers of which more than 2.7 million were adults between the ages of 18-49. Those numbers made the show the most watched cable comedy scripted series ever.
The premiere was also the channel’s most watched premiers in total viewers in history. However, it actually was second finish, as the second episode of the new Sheen series took first place by raking in over 5.7 million viewers. Of those viewers, 2.9 million were between 18 and 49.
The series is for 10 initial episodes with 90 more that are obligated if the series hits ratings benchmarks that have been set. With its first set of viewer numbers released, it looks likely the show will have a long run on the cable channel. Last year at the same time slot of 9 pm, over 1.8 million viewers tuned in for a Two and a Half Men rerun with Sheen.
The series is based on the 2003 movie starring Jack Nicholson and Adam Sandler of the same name. Sheen stars as a former star baseball player turned psychiatrist specializing in anger management. The results from the premiere should make it easier for Sheen to put the tumultuous breakup with Two and a Half Men behind him.
