Pop star Steven Tyler is leaving the cast of American Idol.
July 13, 2012- Steven Tyler, the front man for Aerosmith, has announced he will not return for another season as a judge on the hit series American Idol. Tyler said in a Fox publicity statement that after a great deal of thought, he had decided it was time for him to let his mistress, American Idol, go before she effects him too much. He said he strayed for too long from Aerosmith, his first love.
He said he would be spending the next couple of years kicking butt in an auditory way. He said a new album by the band would be released on November 6. Tyler said working on Idol was great, over the top enjoyment and he loved each and every moment. Now he said it was the time for the return of Rock.
No official world was made if Randy Jackson or Jennifer Lopez would be returning for the upcoming Idol season. However, Lopez suggested that she too might not return for another season. While on the Today Show earlier in the week, she said she loved the show, everyone involved, but she thought it was time to move on to other things she loves to do.
It was reported earlier in the week that Adam Lambert, a former contestant on the show, might replace judge Randy Jackson.
